BELEM vs CHARLES DE GAULLE
We are delighted to announce an exclusive auction featuring artist photographer Benjamin DECOIN, who takes us on a journey through two major works from his photographic repertoire. This sale is a unique opportunity to discover and acquire photographs from the following works:
- À bord du Charles de Gaulle, texts by Cyril HOFSTEIN and photographs by Benjamin DECOIN,
- Belem, Témoin d'hier, acteur d'aujourd'hui, texts by Daniel GILLES and photographs by Benjamin DECOIN
All the works presented are original prints, numbered 1/9, guaranteeing their exclusivity and rarity. This exceptional selection testifies to Benjamin DECOIN's talent in capturing the soul of these two maritime symbols, the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and the mythical sailing ship Belem.
Don't miss this opportunity; the auction promises to attract enthusiasts and collectors with a passion for photographic art and maritime history.
Benjamin DECOIN - Biography
Benjamin Decoin is a reporter-photographer, eclectic and independent. Born in 1978, one foot in Paris and the other in salt water.
After studying philosophy, he began writing for the specialized film press, while traveling the world - and the sea! - for travel magazines. He turned to photography in 2004, when he joined a press agency, which led him to shoot portraits of celebrities (artists, politicians, business leaders, etc.).
Today, in his studio in Montreuil, he carries out numerous commissions, portraits and fashion shoots for magazines and luxury brands.
At the same time, he continues his documentary work on more personal subjects (North Korea, diving into the heart of a totalitarian state, Chêne, 2016) or missions for NGOs (Unicef, Red Cross), while sailing all the seas he encounters. These navigations, in addition to numerous press reports, have given rise to several books: on the Belem (Chêne, 2015) and the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle (EPA, 2017).
Since 2013, he has maintained close ties with the French Navy, whose human adventure he aims to show beyond the technological and military challenges. He has embarked on a dozen different vessels, from the latest Frégates multi-missions to the Astrolabe ice-breaker and schooners.
