Jean-Louis L., known as “Ché” (1952–2022)

A native of the Loiret region, Jean-Louis L., affectionately nicknamed “Ché” by his loved ones, devoted nearly forty years to attending France’s most prominent comic book events. From Angoulême to Blois, from Évreux to the most niche specialty fairs, he patiently built up an extensive collection, guided above all by the joy of reading, meeting authors, and making new discoveries.

Following an initial sale featuring more than 2,800 works, this second and final sale brings together more than 4,500 comic books, showcasing the full diversity of the “ninth art.” Collectors will find numerous sets dedicated in particular to Hermann, Servais, Juillard, Griffo, Franz, Berlion, Gibrat, Tardi, Dany, and Lax, as well as a significant selection of graphic novels featuring original drawings and dedications.

In accordance with his wishes, this collection is now being dispersed at auction to pass on to other enthusiasts—whether collectors or casual fans—the same joy that inspired him throughout his life.

COMIC BOOK CONDITION REPORT

The condition of the comic books is classified according to the following scale:

TBE: comic book in very good condition with a few very slight surface marks.

BE: A comic book in good condition with slight signs of wear and minor cracks.

EM: A comic book in fair condition, showing visible marks or scratches and worn or cracked corners and edges.

ME: A comic book in poor condition, with significant tears, marks, or scratches, or missing pages.

As indicated in the catalog, many albums feature an original drawing signed by the album’s author(s). If no volume number is specified, this means that all albums in the series include a drawing. Otherwise, the albums featuring a drawing are specifically identified.

PRESENTATION AND PICKUP OF LOTS

To ensure the proper preservation of the items and to facilitate the organization of this sale, which includes more than 4,500 items, no preview will be held.

All lots, sold by designation, have been packaged in advance of the auction.

Pickup will be available by appointment only at our logistics warehouse.
