[MANUSCRIT]. LITURGICAL PSALTER Psalterium iuxta Romanum (Liturgical Psalter following the Roman Rite) In Latin (Spanish additions), illuminated manuscript on parchment Spanish Netherlands (for export to Spain), circa 1550-1575 123 ff, liturgical Roman script, several script modules, brown and red ink (rubrics in red), lead pencil ruling, tabs marking the main textual divisions of the psalter, initials framed in black ink, initials painted in red or blue on yellow watercolor backgrounds, sometimes set with a watercolor plant decoration, large initials (we count 67) 3 to 5 lines high, introducing the major liturgical divisions, puzzle initials in blue and red ink with watercolor plant or floral motifs (flowers, trees), and a few miscellaneous motifs such as a figure contemplating a flower. Monastic binding contemporary with the manuscript, havana basane on wood, decorated on the boards with geometrical motifs composed of cold fillets, central umbilicus and spandrels in brass, brass clasps, spine with 4 nerves and decorated with cold fillets. Damaged lower spine cap; epidermis to boards and leather cracked in places; parchment inside stained in places; first leaf reinforced with a strip of paper; some rubbing to some initials. Size of leaves: 580 x 380 mm; size of binding: 610 x 410 mm. The style and layout of this manuscript suggest a northern origin, probably the Spanish Netherlands, for export to Spain. A link with the Iberian world is in any case established by the presence at the end of the volume of a table of Psalms, arranged alphabetically and preceded by the words: "Indice de los salmos que contiene este salterium puesto por el abecedario". This manuscript presents the text of the psalms with insertions of liturgical pieces from the proper of the office (ordinary of the office) according to the liturgical seasons (Advent, Christmas season, Septuagesima, Lent, Passiontide and Eastertide), indicated by means of headings.
