NOSTRADAMUS (Michel de Nostredame) - Lot 86

NOSTRADAMUS (Michel de Nostredame) Very ancient and very certain perpetual prophecies by Thomas-Joseph Moult, native of Naples, Great Astronomer and Philosopher. These prophecies, so curious and rare, so sought-after and so useful to the public, especially to farmers, winegrowers, gardeners and those who trade in grains and wines, began in 1267 and will last forever. They were translated from Italian into French, with great accuracy, some 299 years later, and verified by the famous NOSTRADAMUS, Prophet and Philosopher. Reprinted for the present year, and again calculated, examined and estimated by the most famous Astronomers of this century. Without place or date, nor mention of printer (1812 according to Benazra), in-8, modern hardback, 66 pp. with title vignette and three woodcuts. Last leaf entirely covered with transparent adhesive. According to Benazra, pp. 355-356, this may be an impression by Baudot. Provenance: Jean-Charles de Fontbrune Collection (his stamp at the bottom of the title page).
