[ALCHIMIE] SALMON or SALOMON, Nicolas (physician from Poitou)
Bibliothèque des philosophes [chymiques,]. Tome second. Containing five treatises set out on the other page, newly translated. With remarks on the various lessons. A Latin letter on the book entitled: "Icon philosophiae occultae". A preface on the obscurity of philosophers, on the treatises in this volume and their authors. And a table of contents. Par le sieur S., docteur en medecine.
A Paris, chez Charles Angot, 1678, in-16 bound in full basane, 5-nerve spine decorated with gilt cartouches, 522 pp. + 34 pp. (table). Worn binding (spotting, brittle hinges), narrow trace of wetness at the top.
This extremely rare first edition consisted of only two volumes. Attributed by Barbier and the British Museum catalog to William Salmon. The author is said to be Nicolas Salomon, according to the separate edition of the Latin letter on the title.
The five treatises contained in this volume are: I. "The Seven Chapters of Hermes Trismegistus". II.
