André SABLÉ (1921-2013) - THE WORKSHOP
Born on December 13, 1921 in Saint-Thomas-de-Courceriers, in the beautiful region of Mayenne, André Sablé is an artist whose career skilfully blends painting and sculpture.
His first steps in the art world took him to Paris, where he studied painting at the Atelier Aujame and sculpture at the Atelier Rivière, two renowned institutions.
Since then, his work has been shown at a number of renowned
such as Jeune Peinture, Jeune Sculpture, Salon de Mai, Salon d'Automne
and many others.
His involvement as a member of the "Comparaisons" Salon Committee and as organizer of the "Réalité Seconde" group has enriched the Parisian artistic landscape.
André Sablé's horizons are not limited to the French scene; his works have traveled the world, exhibited in London,
Brussels, Tokyo, Bangkok, Vienna, Munich, Rio de Janeiro and Copenhagen, among others.
André Sablé's painting, which he defines as an exploration between figuration and abstraction, has its roots in abstract landscape painting. This artistic quest was catalyzed by a transformative experience in 1959, when the Rio Seco in Spain revealed new perspectives to him.
Over the years, André Sablé has enriched the Parisian artistic panorama through solo exhibitions in prestigious galleries such as Galerie Gérard Mourgue, Galerie du Fleuve, Galerie Berri-Lardy, Galerie Pierre Domec and many others.
Between 1968 and 1987, monumental art became André Sablé's preferred field of expression. His mosaics, sculptures and illuminated walls embellished iconic sites from Paris to Laval, from Mayenne to Sens, leaving a lasting imprint on the urban landscape.
An inspiring trip to New York in 1980 marked a turning point in André Sablé's career, freeing his spirit for new horizons of artistic freedom and daring.
