ANTIQUARIAN BOOKS: VOYAGES & DÉCOUVERTES

An auction entirely dedicated to antiquarian books from the libraries of enlightened amateurs, under the banner of escapism, scholarly curiosity and printed heritage.

The theme of travel takes center stage, with accounts of scientific expeditions, distant explorations and cultural discoveries:

  1. Bory de Saint-Vincent, Expédition scientifique de Morée
  2. Gaspard Drouville, Voyage en Perse fait en 1812 et 1813
  3. The bronzes of Herculaneum in a rare illustrated edition
  4. L'illustre collection de Prévost, Histoire générale des voyages, in 82 volumes published between 1746 and 1759
  5. Stuart & Revett, Les antiquités d'Athènes, superb volumes documenting the remains of ancient Greece.

A second focus of the sale is the French capital, with precious historical and topographical works, including :

  1. Plan de Paris begun in 1734, engraved under the orders of Michel-Étienne Turgot (1739 edition), in large 19th-century bound folio - an emblematic piece of Parisian cartography.

This sale will appeal to bibliophiles, collectors and travel enthusiasts, whether historical, geographical or imaginary.

An invitation to travel... in the margins of paper.
